Abuelo 7 Años

Another plastic bottle packaging. After Anejo, I expected more from this rum due to the 7-year aging. Not much, but more than this.

Origin: Panama
Alcohol content: 40% v/v
Aging: 7 years
Sugar content: n/a

Color: golden yellow

Nose: apple, citrus, grape, almond, nail polish remover/acetone, glue, cookie, slightly woody, smoky, wood varnish of old furniture

Palate: ladyfingers (I mean the sponge biscuit, of course), thin, slightly latte-like, sugared cinnamon biscuit, sweet, cheap candy, a very slight white wine taste, milk caramel-flavored hard candy

Aftertaste: short and flat

The aroma of the glass when empty: glue at first sniff (you punk!), then slightly woody, then cardboard and rubber

Mr. Hands helped me, so it finally gone.

It was quite shocking that after a more complex aroma I got so little flavor. After Anejo, I didn't expect much more better, but I expected better than this. I have no problem with sugar, even if it is added to my rum (by the distiller, naturally). In this case, however, it doesn't highlight any of the flavors. Sweet and that's all. But the woody aromas - if appeared - aroused my curiosity, I was hoping that maybe I would feel it in the next sip, but unfortunately not. It is nice from them that they to offer it in 50 ml packs.

I tasted it - so you don't have to!
