World Rum Day 2025 - just a little earlier

(I wrote this post yesterday, but the editor didn't want to work, so it was delayed until today.)

So (I thought) today is World Rum Day. I prepared myself in advance - in my mind - that now I wouldn't share my previous notes, or maybe rather, but something anyway. Then life brought it about that this Saturday didn't exactly turn out the way weekends were planned. I didn't even have the energy to write a tasting, I thought that a Cuba libre would be enough for today (let's say a 1:2, 1 liter of rum, 2 liters of cola, and a small lime bush). Then Martinique got me (oh, if only!) and I made a Ti punch. A spoon of Demerara sugar (what else? Where do I get sugar from Martinique?), white agricole, (almost) same amount as sugar (well, plus a splash, so my day doesn't feel so wrong), an intuitive amount of lime juice. And... I could really drink a liter of this. I threw in some ice cubes. So here I am, sitting on the terrace, Marcel Bianchi and his lovely friends are playing Hawaiian Serenade, it's warm but the wind is blowing. Then I realize I have another week to figure out what to write about for this year's World Rum Day, because it will be only next Saturday.
